Any other MC like snuggling under the covers?
Hi all,
Found the forum last night and love it! I have 2 maine coons, Chloe who is a silver torie, with a fair bit of white and Theo who is completely white, they are both about a year and a half and are indoor cats.
I usually get woken up a couple of times during the night by Chloe clambering onto the bed and chirping. Then she will come and give me cat kisses and if I lift the quilt a little bit she will crawl under and go to sleep snuggled up next to me, often with her chin resting on the pillow. It is sooo adorable!
I wondered if anyone else maine coons share this charming habit?

Hi and welcome!
Mine don't exactly get under the duvet but they absolutely love the 'bed bugs' game. We can get them to do flying leaps across the bed, and at 5kgs you can really feel it!
About 10 minutes before my alarm this morning, Monty decided to drape himself across my head. I think he decided he wanted the pillow and never mind if my head was on it first. I could hear his heartbeat (and purring) right in my ear. He got very comfy there but pretty soon I decided it must be time to get up.... talk about being wrapped around his furry paws....

It's really strange- Sylvester seems to actively avoid our duvet cover and when he does sleep in our bed he sleeps on my pillow just above my head. I get woken up by him making little snuffly sleeping noises in my ear. More often than not he settles down on the floor at the end of the bed, you'd think the bed would be much more soft and comfortable for him. He's taken to waking us up really early by nipping us on the eyebrows- a bit naughty!!

Schrodinger does that too, its great, though i've discovered that its best to put your hand under all the blankets as his claws go straight through the throw we have on top.. that was a painful discovery i must admit.
At the moment when were sleeping and he's been allowed in the bedroom he'll normally curl up between our legs on top of quilt, and if i wake up in the middle of the night its not uncommon to find him lying on his back paws in the air sandwiched between our two bodies which is very adorable.
Now I'm normally up first at around 6:30 or there abouts and schrodinger has recently started to move up the bed and place his paw on my face to wake me up, first it was just before my alarm went off which was fine but he's now starting to get earlier and earlier and the last time it was 5:30 oh and if you dont wake up the first time he bats you again but this time his claws are extended just a little.. just so that you know that he knows that you know that he knows that your awake

Ah, now that I have two MC's, mine fall into both camps.
Freyja doesn't like soft things to sit on - her lovely, puffy Tigga Tower bedding has all been scrapped as she'll only sit in the igloo or basket with no cushions whatsoever. So she lounges on the duvet with me when I read to her, or playing bed bugs, but sleeps on the floor - usually right next to the bed, leaning up against the wardrobes. She sometimes like to hang her head and front legs over the edge of my drawer unit, too, but always on hard surfaces. Even the shelf we fitted in our spare bedroom to make the window sill thicker for her to sit on gets ignored if we put a thick blanket on it.
Wicca likes to nestle in between us in bed, although she's the worst fidget you'll ever meet and for a few minutes it's lovely - like curling up with a warm, breathing, loudly purring hot water bottle. The the fidgeting starts and it's less lovely. She likes to be warm so when she curls up on your lap, she likes you to put both your hands or arms round her and really 'cuddle' her, so she loves being under the duvet. When she gets too hot, she sits on the pillow and lays her head next to us. And purrs loud enough to make you think you've fallen asleep next to a jack hammer.
Both girls like to wake us up, although Freyja's my favourite at wake up time as she rubs all over you, licks, tickles and nudges you until you start to stir, then she stands on your chest and the first thing you see when you open your eyes is that beautiful little muzzle peering down at you. Wicca tends to forget that she's got claws and if you're not careful, you are gently and affectionately flayed alive. Plus with her jet black little face, and bright, wide gold eyes, she actually looks like a bona fide lunatic when you've not fully woken up.
Love it!

Our three love the bed. Pomeroy is always waiting on it when we go up to bed then retires to "his" wicker chair at the bottom of the bed once he has had a fuss.
The kitten spend most of the night in and on the bed. Raggles likes to sleep wrapped around Sandras head. Tilly spends most of the night "pouncing" on us. Below is a picture of me somewhere under the kittens.

Seems like all maine coons love bedtime in their own way! Chloe used to do the pouncing thing too but fortunately doesn't do it much anymore, probably because she got banished from the bedroom a few times when she was driving me mad with it!
