Thread: Homemade cat tree

Wow, that looks brilliant - sure they're gonna love it!

Here's some more photos- think it needs a bit more sisal and a hammock.... and a bird's nest style viewing tower on the highest part!! Shame Sylvester seems a little bit bemused about it- he's climbing over everything EXCEPT the tree. We've rubbed it in catnip, tried to entice him up with a treat and Tom spent a great deal of time last night moving his mouse up and down the branches to try and get him to play! The furthest he's got is the first platform!!
Hopefully he'll try it out once he gets used to it being there,,,,,,

One of mine took a month to graduate from the lowest basket on the tigga tower to the next platform up,first of all he just sat there pretending to be brave but actually looked absolutly petrefied,it was at least anothe couple of weeks before he would lay down on it,he has never tried the top bunk,I put him up there once & thought I would have to call the fire brigade to get him down,he went so rigid that I had to stand on a chair to lift him up & out,change of knickers came to mind bless him.....
Am going to show hubby your tree,could do something like it out in the pen,very clever.

Thank guys- Tom is very good at making things! I really hope Sylvester takes to it- maybe he would use it more if he had a friend to chase behind! He had a scratch at the second platform and got his claw stuck and looked a bit alarmed! He kind of clumsily threw himself off the side of the platform with his paw still attached and then ran off like the tree had bitten him. I think the top bed might be a bit scary- might have to put an intermediate one in. It's really sturdy though and it only has a couple of brackets attached to the wall. I wanted to go a bit crazy and have the top of the tree ending in a long shelf spanning the whole wall. I was reminded by Tom that this is also our house!

Sounds like a good idea- maybe he would feel like he could hide in it then! Was thinking of incorporating a tray of cat grass somewhere. He hasn't got any just now- is it very important for their health?

I don't know that you would class cat grass important for their health but mine love it,had to ban it to pen & garden outside though when babes arrived,Welly couldn't have made more mess if had got the lawnmower out to cut it & then paddle it everywhere,so really depends on Sylvesters table manners if you can only have it indoors.....
