    Smelly Coonie?

    Hi all,
Chester has a habit of moving all his litter to one side usually before urinating, or alternatively he sits on his pellets whilst urinating. Either way, whenever he uses his litter tray, he comes out with a wet smelly tail and behind.

Is this a common MC trait? Any suggestions to avoid the stench on him?

We purchased an extra large hooded litter tray (for a dog) to avoid him flicking the litter out all over the floor, but not sure if he can't get high enough to avoid sitting in the litter now.

Sorry, Miss Kitty, can't help at all. I don't get this with either of my MC's but they are both girls so perhaps that makes a difference? Neither of our trays are quite the size of the giant one Cascadians recommends but it's only because we don't have the space for them!

    Smelly coonie

Might be worth trying without lid,one of my boys pees & poos with his front feet balanced on the edge of the tray & there he hovers, looks quite funny really.Could be that Chester would do the same & fingers crossed no more wet tails.
We are one of those on site who has replaced a broken tray with one of the storage boxes, works well because sides are very high & plenty of sizes to choose from....

I also would suggest trying with lid of litterbox removed. We have never had problems such as you describe, but our experience has been that they prefer to not be cramped. When we bought our first "giant" litterbox posted earlier, the biggest male immediately quit using all of the smaller pans (and we quit having problems with deposits made over the edges of these pans).
