All safe & sound

Hi guys

Just to let you know that Gracie had her spaying op today and is now home safe and well - albeit completely unimpressed by her lampshade collar!!!

So much for the light meal though, tried to get her away from Monty's food but she was too busy wolfing it down to take any notice of me!

She is now currently trying all the cunning tricks in the book to get this collar off her - amazing just how dextrous these coonies can be! I'll give it an hour or so and see if she stops trying to bite her stiches when I take it off next.

Thanks for all your kind wishes - I was a worry bucket all day but thankfully was extra busy at work so that helped a lot!

Glad shes ok, and back home, safe and well. At the beginning of this year Riley had to have the end of his tail amputated. The vets sent him home with the lampshade on, which met with huge disapproval! He found a use for it tho - he used it like a massive shovel to scoop food into his mouth! After a couple of hours I realised his tail still reached round to his mouth, so took the silly thing off! It was supposed to be on so he didn't pick at the stitches! :rofl:

Good news Rachel. Gracie looks very fetching in her lampshade, and given the number of furries that went in for the op today, she may well be the starter of a new trend!

Just got back from the vets for Gracie's check up after the op! She's doing good and her wound is healing well. Was a little worried as she's had a bit of a rasping cough from the trachea tube poor little thing and has been getting herself a bit stressed when coughing. They said she seems fine though and the cough should clear up in a few more days - here's hoping x

Good news, hopefully the cough will clear up shortly. You know the drill though - keep us posted!

Glad to hear she is home safe and the operation went well, no one likes the lampshades.. you would think by now they would come up with something a little easier to cope with..

You can get post op coats which are pretty good but can also be a pain to get on if the animal is not obliging.I would love to have got pictures of some of the ideas owners do come up with though,with dogs we very often suggest a tshirt & even then it is surprising what walks through the door,very often the men will only take the animal out if it is wearing their favourite pop band shirt or the football club they support,one client had a hoody on theirs because the sore place was on the neck & with the hoody pulled up they could still put a collar round lightly to take it out,when we saw it weeks later it still had the hoody on,wouldn't go out without it.....
