Preventing mats
Last June (2010), I adopted a beautiful Maine Coon named Bonnie from a local humane society. Her coat is beautiful, but it mats very easily--particularly under her chin and on her chest, where water and food particles collect.
Bonnie is very sensitive about being groomed and won't let me try to remove mats. Is there any way I can prevent mats from developing under her chin and on her chest. For instance, could I put some type of bib on her that will prevent water and food from mixing with her fur? Or, should I ask a groomer to simply shave the areas under her chin and on her chest?
Warmly,
Roger
