Identification of Maine Coon
Tiger was a stray kitten left with our vet and was about 10 weeks old when we adopted him. He is 11 months old now. We have been reading about Maine Coons and he seems to have all of the characteristics as far as his behavior and appearance. Can anyone tell by his picture if he is a Maine Coon?

Harry is absolutely beautiful. He does look a lot like Tiger except for the long hair on the tips of his ears. I am trying to get some more pictures and will post them soon. Thanks, Joanie

The vet doesn't have any more information about Tiger. He was found near the street by someone who took him to the vet but couldn't keep him because of allergies. We were there the next day with another cat we had, Muffin, who was white with blue eyes. He was only five years old and went into liver failure and the vet had tried everything she could. We never knew what caused it and were devastated. We knew we just couldn't let him suffer any more. There was a precious little orange kitten, with bright turquoise eyes, in the cage next to Muffin. The vet said he needed a home. Of course we can never replace Muffin, but Tiger has brought us so much joy. It doesn't matter what breed he is; we love him so much. Tiger's eyes are now orange and match his coat almost perfectly. We also adopted another solid white kitten, Comet, and the two of them are best friends. I have become fascinated with Maine Coons and am enjoying this forum. Thanks for your reply. Joanie

Welcome to you and Tiger, Joanie. Sorry to hear about losing Muffin, but perhaps fate has intervened to bring you and Tiger together. Sounds like you were both very lucky in tragic circumstances. As for what breed, I can't comment - apologies for being so unhelpful. But I CAN comment on how handsome he is. You love him, he's one contented looking cat, so I wouldn't worry about breed

Hi Joanna -
What a cutie - my Finn was a rescue too. At 6 I got a new vet and when he received the records from the old vet he told me he was listed as a Maine Coon. I thought Fpnny may be part Maine Coon but wasn't sure. When the new vet saw his he told me this a Maine Coon he may be mix but I can't swear to that, but either way I love him Maine Coon characteristics are just a bonus!
