    Wood Pellet Liter

Well, it has taken me and my cat nearly a year to decide on a cat litter we both like. It has been a tough ten months but we persevered and the experience has been one we won't be forgetting anytime soon. Wood pellets seem to be the best for us and I was wondering the best place to get them. Pets at Home have the large bags, which I prefer to buy (bulk buyer here), but reading the reviews says the pellets aren't good quality. So, where can I buy large bags of wooden pellets?

    Previously used litters:

Oko plus: Clumps brilliantly but tracks terribly. I was waking up to find litter in places you wouldn't imagine seeing it. Also, the litter didn't mask the smell.

Bob Martin clumping clay: Despite being a big bag at such a low price, it wasn't worth it. It hardly tracked but didn't clump - has to scrap it off bottom of tray (yuk)

Morrisons clumping: It clumped better than BM but not to Oko standards. Didn't ask smell and still had to scrap it off tray.

Catsan: Meh, not a great as everyone says.

Morrison non- clumping: Opted for a change and regreated it. It was more dust than clay!

Pets at Home ultra clumping: Misleading because was not ultra clumping lol - was hardly clumping.

Fuller's Earth: The less said, the better.

World's Best: My cat hated it and refused to use it. Why he had to refuse the most expensive, I don't know.

Wood Pellets from Asda: Wow. Cat loved it, it smelt lovey and I was amazed when the wet litter disintegrated and turned to dust. No more sticking to the bottom of the tray.

I buy the Sophisticat Beauticat wood pellet litter from Sainsburys. It comes in 10l bags for about £3.50. It's very similar to the Asda own make (I use it at a push and the boys don't seem to notice the change), but the Beauticat wood pellets seem to have a 'better' texture, not as much dust, than the Asda ones (they both smell the same).

We use the Sophisticat Beauticat wood pellets from Sainsburys or 30l bags from the local farm suppliers at £9.90 a bag.
Have also used the wood pellets from Pets at Home, but they seem to use 2 differnet suppliers for their own make, so it is hit or miss with the quality some times.
We have also tried a few other "own brands" of wood pellets but always seem to go back to the Beauticat ones.
Did not know that Asda did wood pellets, or at least our local branch does not stock them yet. Will keep an eye out for them.

I use Liverpool Wood Pellets, You can buy any amount and it works out a lot cheaper then P@H.

Go for the economy rather than the premium pellets as I found they are better for litter use.

The pellets are longer than any other pellets I've used so tend to disintigrate slower. I ordered 1000kgs of it last time if that tells you anything

Well, since two people had recommended the pellets from Sainsburys, I decided to walk down there and check it out. Only, after a 20 min walk, did I discover that my Sainasburys had a huge selection of Catsan Non-Clumping clay little. Ok. Well, I was dire need of litter so went to ASDA but to no joy - sold out.

Had to push to Pets@Home and get a big bag (30lt) pellets for £9.99. They are massive compared to the ASDA ones but they actually disintegrate rather slower than my other. My cat has no problems with them either and the dusk isn't tracking. So far, my experience with these are the complete opposite of what I've heard. I'll see what it's like when I've finished the bag though lol.

Mick, thanks for that link. The prices are really reasonable and shipping is free too Gonna check em out after I'm through with my current ones.
