Ownership Papers
We breed chihuahuas now and then when they are sold and the new owner picks them up, we hand over a printed pedigree, the change of ownership form and 4 weeks free insurance. I got my MC kitten on 26 April 2011 got no papers until 2-3 phone calls later, and then only got a pedigree on 25 Sept. I still haven't got a transfer of ownership form. Therefore the cat still belongs to the breeder as she says she transfers all the litter to their new owners at the same time ??? Is this normal procedure with cat breeders?

For me it's definitely not a normal procedure. The new owners of my kittens gets a confirmation of registration with the GCCF (pink slip) along with the kitten (with my name as a breeder on it). The new owner may transfer ownership even at the same day. Perhaps other breeders have different procedures.

I have had pink slip at same time but also with one did not get it until I sent breeder proof of neutering then it was sent to me & I had the cat changed into my name but have always received a printed pedigree & receipt for money paid on the day of picking up the cats, wouldn't expect any less. I think the idea of keeping slip is to make sure you have them neutered as requested if it is handed over straight away & cat put into your name there is no comeback if you then decide to breed from it,the other way round you wouldn't be able to get the babes registered,of course if your babe came from a breeder who early neuters as some do now to avoid indiscriminate breeding then of course you should have had the pink slip as well providing of course that babe is registered GCCF with FB it is on the pedigree {of mine anyway} no pink slips there,as for TICA not sure what you get hopefully someone else will know that answer. Does seem a bit strange about transferring all at same time because the breeder has normally registered them anyway under her prefix & then you do the re registering under your name, only just re read that bit, having rather too much help at the moment from a certain cat, keep getting things up on screen that I don't know how to get rid of so sorry if this reply is a bit disjointed,I think I would be a bit wary....!

I got my pedigree printouts even before I picked up the boys. I got one of the registration slips when I picked them up but the GCCF made transcriptions errors on the names of two of them at their initial reg and so those followed in the post. I had to pay the £12 to change their registrations, but that was part of the original agreement and always optional. Everything else - microchips etc. - was automatically registered with my name and address.
Then again, I did visit the boys every two weeks or so, so the breeder got the idea I was serious ;)

Does the breeder gave you a reason why you still do not have documents? You should get papers immediately after the cat has been neutered if that was a condition of contract.

Exactly what I was then going to ask...!
Which registration body does the breeder say they are registered with...?
Perhaps we need a heads up section on here for people to check with there seems to be an awful lot more people having problems getting the papers to go along with their babes.

Ask her about an immediate sending of documents. She has no right to refuse. You can try to warn her that you will send a complain to her registration body if you will not get them within next couple of days. Regarding photos...We always ask the new owners of the pictures of our kittens in new homes and permission to add them to our website. No to boost our ego but because we like to know how they are developing and to show potential new owners what they can expect.
