MC kitten not using litter tray.HELP!
Hey guys, my MC kitten is now about 8months old and since about a month ago he is not using his litter tray as he did before. He uses it to pee in, but he never poo's in it anymore now. Before he would use his tray perfectly and covered his mess also, now he just does his job on the floor next to his litter tray.
Are there any owners here with the same problem and how have you rectified it, or is there anything I can do to make my MC poo in his litter tray again.

Welcome to my world. My almost 4yr old non-MC male poops next to the tray. He was normal and then BAM, one day refused to poo in it. You could try putting a few different litter trays around the place, cleaning them daily, try a different type of tray or litter. The only thing that works is getting them to go in the garden where it's hidden (in a cat run or something). Otherwise if you find another answer please let me know. Oh and make sure you wipe it up straight away cuz dried poop is a bitch to clean off the floor with a mop. And have a good air freshener handy!!!

I have never experienced this problem. But if it was one of my cats suddenly starting to do this, I'd first have him/her checked for medical issues. Perhaps some bowel problem prevents him from getting to the tray in time.
Other causes might be: tray too small; wants a different tray for poo; doesn't like the type of litter; is bored and wants a playmate...
But personally, I'd want to rule out a medical problem first.

Thanks for the replies. Can't be bowel problems because he only poo's around the tray and he takes his time before he does it.

Make sure he has two good sized litter trays side by side,I have one who pees in one tray & then nips sharply over into the next one to poo, doesn't matter that perhaps one of the others has used it & I haven't been able to beat him to clean it,just likes to use a different tray for both, also if he feels the trays are a bit small for him he might find getting into a different position worries him hence make it two big MC size ones, good luck.....

Yes, I'd go for at least 2 big trays. One of my trays is an under-bed storage box, much bigger than the biggest litter tray in the pet shop. I can fill it nice and deep and they have plenty of space to scrabble around and dig.
