Introducing new kitten to adult dog
We are picking up our new kitten in 2 weeks. I'm getting nervous about how my dog, a black lab, will accept him. We had our previous Maine coon before the dog. We brought our lab home when he was 8 weeks and the cat was already an adult. It was a little rough at first but eventually they both got along pretty well. Now my lab is 7 years old and my cat died 3 months ago. My dog accepted my previous cat as the senior pet, but will he be OK with a new kitten?
I'm so excited... but the closer it gets to picking up the kitten the more nervous I get. I adopted my last cat as an adult. I haven't had a kitten in so long I just don't remember what it's like. I would love to hear about other people's experiences.

In the past I have never had problems introducing the two together a cat can normally hold its ground at the best of times but because they are so much alike MC's & K9's seem to accept each other quite readily. We haven't had dogs for a few years now but when daughter is home & has "custody"of her golden retriever it comes into the house & it doesn't mind about the cats & vice versa, will be able to comment a bit better later this week when our new babe meets her....! x
