Do Maine Coon cats have a habit of lying across doorways?
This may seem a strange one, but I've never come across it before with other cats so wonder whether other MCs have a habit of lying across open doorways to rest and relax. Kitten always gravitates to lying in front of the living room entrance, dining room entrance, bedroom entrances etc.. In the summer I thought the doorway habit may just be a way for him to keep cool and away from the summer heat, but he's still got a thing about doorways in the winter. It may seem an insignificant detail to worry about, but the reason for posting is that it makes walking around the house problematic at times and this evening I nearly went flying as I didn't look down to see him in time...

It seems to me that Maine Coons will lie down anywhere they can get in the way of your feet! Kenny's favourite place is on my computer desk across my keyboard.

Yep, couple of ours lie in doorways! The stairs are the worst thought - especially when there's one on each step in a row - it's not fun trying to climb ove three steps!

One of ours just lies in the middle of the doorways, in the middle of the floor, well anywhere in the way really. Our girl prefers to lie on the stairs so if you get up at night you HAVE to put the light on so you dont tread on her, the other prefers the top of the laundry basket, the back of the sofa or a lap, but the thing I have learnt is coonies are not cats, they are a life form all of their own :o)

Haha! Bullet is exactly the same, collapsing wherever he stands is his favourite thing. We recently got a new doormat at the front door and he loves it! Nearly been squished a few times. lol

Yes doorways, top of the stairs, on top of the litter tray (?), on his back legs akimbo in front of the TV, on every chair, in the coat cupboard etc etc etc. In fact, anywhere apart from his cat bed until I had the bright idea of positioning it under the radiator - RESULT!!!!!
