He is 6.9 lbs at 5 mnths old id like for him to
Have xtra calories i free feed all the time n gv him
Wet food in.the am n pm half a can at each time.he still seems
hungry all the time should i try nutracal its a high calorie paste
apparantley ive never used it but it was suggested to me.
Also canned kittens milk was suggested.wt do u all think?
That the same weight my Samantha weighted when I got her at 6 months old and when she grew up she was a big beautiful girl of 15-17 lbs.
I don't think you need to be concerned.
7lb at 5 months is a reasonable weight. Don't try to overfeed or you could end up with a fat kitten, not a large one. Let him eat what he wants when he wants and maybe vary the wet food you are giving. Does he clear the bowl of wet or does he leave any? If the former, give him a little more or feed him three times a day instead of two. if the latter, cut back a bit, there's no need to waste food. Cats are very good at regulating their own diet. Make sure he has plenty of exercise to build muscle and monitor him on a bi-weekly basis. You should see a steady increase.
I agree with the above. You don’t want to end up with an overweight kitty.
What do you feel if you gently stroke his back and sides? If you can easily feel his spine and ribs without applying pressure, he could be underweight. But if you have to apply slight pressure in order to feel them, he’s OK.
Well he doesnt feel underweight. He always eats every bite of his wet food. He has no internal parasites I am just concerned
because he is always crying and begging for food its like he cant get enough. And even when I give him 3 feedings hes still wanting more lol
I am started to think I have a pot belly piglet for a kitty. :rofl:I just dont want him to be hungry all the time so I didnt know if i should try supplements
in between feedings or perhaps mixing some kibble in with the wet food for more substance. I just dont want him to be hungry:(
Try putting more wet food down and see how much he really wants to eat in one go. Give him one and a half times his normal portion and, if he eats it all, maybe the portion was too small. Do you give half a can of kitten food (i.e. a small can) or half a large can? Maybe try a different variety of dry too which may encourage him to eat more of that if he doesn't each much dry.
