what is the difference between american born maine coon and mc not born in the states
I have noticed that mc raised here in the usa look different than other mc born other countries. They look wild to me
almost inbred? Is there a reason for this? Just curious Thanks

Think it would all be down to the foundation breeding lines which you must still have over there, one of the first MC's that came over from America to GB was a brown tabby that I was fortunate enough to meet as he was bought by a lady in my home village {only just recently passed away bless her} & I can still picture his wild looking face but I do think that a lot of the brown tabbies over here do carry that mean face that belies the gentle giant behind it.You are very lucky to live where such a majestic breed has its very strong roots & long may that look continue....x

Ditto to jckkerrison's post.
My two are from the same breeder. But Maya is more feral looking than Tequila. It's all in the breeding line.

It's also to do with registries, for example in CFA the chunkier but rounder looking cat is more favoured, in TICA the longer more feral look is often preferred, it used to be in GCCF that the heavier rounder look was favoured, but there are more and more longer cats doing well at GCCF shows, where FIFe was for the more feral look, and cats can now do well in both registries. It's all down to personal choice and breeding, personally I prefer the more feral look :-)
