2 New Kittens
Hi, im new to the site.
im getting 2 new kitten from 2 different litters, hadnt planned it that way but i fell in love with a blue Maine coon/Ragdoll cross and he was last of his litter, but really wanted 2 kittens, then a breeder near me said he had a silver tabby MC boy if i would like him. i melted at the pictures of him so now i have 2, they are arriving about 2 weeks apart but are around the same age give a few days. im now in the process of buying things for when they come home but would like some advice.
I was looking at getting this litter box will it be big enough? Catit Jumbo Litter Box: Free P&P on orders of £19 or more at zooplus!
and a bed, what type of bed do your like, most of my previous cat just slept where ever they want (rarely in a cat bed) so was sure what to get.
any other advice would be welcome.
have include a pic of the 2 kittens im getting

Hi & welcome to you & your soon to be furries, they are gorgeous, any names yet...!
You are very wise going straight for something extra large saves on the pennies later,I would suggest as you are having two babes that if you have room you have two trays & to start with perhaps leave the lid off of one to make sure that they are happy using a lidded one, they normally get used to them quite quickly so hopefully wouldn't be too long before you could use the cover on both.Whichever litter you decide to use make sure you put plenty in as the MC does luv to dig through to down under,as for beds they all seem to differ some like to curl up into something they hardly fit some like the flat type & a lot just like to use the same as you..... Make sure you have a good cat scratcher to give your furniture a better chance of survival & lots of spare time to enjoy them both plus lots of photos for us to continue to drool over please....x

I think names do lend themselves to each animal & I also think it is good if they can get used to being called by their names before they arrive, one of ours that was only named a couple of days before we had him was Bruce & that was because it all happened so quickly,China being adult kept hers the breeder had already named Pansy as she was so small she said her face looked like the flower so she kept that & Merlyn,Shimba,Wellynton Boots & Ruby were all named by the time they were three weeks & would answer to them before they left the breeder.... Perhaps when you have seen a bit more of them one will suddenly seem right,I think its one of the best parts of having a new babe..x

Hi Vanadis
Ohhh lucky you - the babies are absolutely gorgeous!
Re the litter box ... we have the same one for our elderly Tigs (he's not MC and only weighs a fraction over 4kg) ... it's excellent and does keep the smell way down, but I really don't think that it's big enough for a fully grown MC. I totally agree with Jackie, two is an excellent idea, but I also think that you may find yourself replacing them with something bigger as the babies get older. We have found that even Tigs has occasionally stepped in a 'present' :-( And on the odd occasion that one of the kits has gone in to 'check it out' it's been a very snug fit indeed.
We have two of these for the 'kits' - Great Deals on Cat Litter Boxes & Cat Accessories at zooplus: Jumbo Cat Litter Box with Rim
and find that the size is better, but of course they don't have a lid.
Somebody (on here I think?) suggested getting the large under bed storage lockers with lids and cutting a flap / hole in them. Hopefully someone can help with that more? Having said that they would probably be far too big for the babies initially ...
I also totally agree with Jackie about the scratching post - invaluable And yes, more pics please!

Hi..Welcome u n the cuties..OMG they r too cute..the MC boy looks more cute..I am biased towards the MC..
the bed..ususally nothing can be told about their beds..mostly they like to curl up in a space which will be too small for them n will never fir them properly. As kitties I think they will love to curl up on your bed for somedays .. I am not sure about that..
I am living in a Gulf country..so I am not sure about the Litter box ..that is not available here..But as Jckerrison told..they usually get adopted to the new litter box and you will be adjusted to the digging noise..they love to dig n dig n sometime I wonder if there is something hidden in that..
Yes..You should buy a scratch post ..otherwise your furniture will be something like...I cant explain..Scratching is their hobby..
Waiting for more photos..n best wishes for u n the furballs..

Beautiful babies! We've got 2 of the catit trays (look like the same ones) for our 3 (20 months old now) and they're fine with them. Although we had to remove the filters as there's no cover over them and Shadow kept pulling them out and eating them! Seem to contain any smells and they use them no probs

We have a Tigga tower, specially designed & built by a MC owner & although outlay pretty high over a couple of years down the line all is as good as day 1 but there are some clever people on here who have built their own, just try "cat tower" in the search box at the top of the page & see what comes up,with cat litter we used to have a fairly expensive one from zooplus but with the three cats found it worked out cheaper in the long run than those that cost less but since the numbers of cats have risen we now use the chick crumb & layers pellet route which works out a lot cheeper {sorry meant cheaper ...!} & surprisingly doesn't smell any different to when we were using the scented litter, you just need a bit of shed room though to store the big sacks....x
