Wow, that email says it all, doesn’t it? Very wise of you to stay away from her, she’s obviously no good. (Though I can imagine your disappointment as you fancied the kitten.)
I wish you the best of luck finding the MC of your dreams, please keep us posted!

Well as they say as one door closes another opens.

Have beein talking to a FIFE breeder in my local city who is giving up breeding so the kittens she has are the last she will have for a while.

She is a tortie [black and cream] 17 weeks, had their jabs and unlike the previous person I was talking to happily been answering my questions, and I answering theirs.

I can see what people were saying about buying from a breeder, has paper work etc so much more happy I am getting a proper MC rather than one that I am told is a proper one.

Oh and attached the compulsory picture of her, I know not the silver tabby I was looking at but she have a nice look about her and plus with a dark brown sofa, grey/brown carpets her hair should show up less lol

What a lovely kitten! A naughty tortie.

Though the little silver girl was incredibly cute and I'm sure will make somebody a great pet, for my two pennorth (as a legitimate registered breeder) you made the right decision. I would hate to think that somebody purchased a cat from me then used it for breeding without my consent or knowledge, but it does happen.

Have you been warned about the MC Owners' affliction - one is never enough. Good luck with your new babe.

I have been told she is a good girl as apparently torties can be naughty

But she did say if she turns out anything like her mum get a heavy water dish, at the moment she is behaving and drinking normally.

She is not neutered at the moment as she says to get them done a bit later, however she would have her personal vet do it now but would have to hold onto her for two more weeks.

Would it be a good idea to use the vet she trusts to do this? Or have the vet local to me do it?

    Thanks

At some stage you will need to build a relationship with a local veterinary practice. Do you have any friends with pets who could recommend a practice? If not, most have websites to check out, and why not make an appointment to have a chat with the staff before you book the spaying. At the least, the vet will then have seen your kitten when it is well, give her a check over, and you will have some confidence in their care.

My friend takes his to the local vets, his step-mother if you like to call her that works there, it was also where my mum took her cat before she passed away.

I do like your suggestion about seeing the vet, having a chat first, I will look into that, my reasons for thinking about getting her done by the breeders vet is I would suspect he has more experience with MC's then the local vet, so would be more aware of issues/complications that might occur? I don't know if that is a good way to look at it?

What a beauty. Any name yet? As to spaying/neutering, I believe becoming comfortable with your vet is a major factor. When we picked up our guy we were required by the breeder to take him to a vet within 3-5 days for a wellness visit. The breeder recommended their vet. Luckily, I've had other cats & dogs so had an established relationship with my local vet. I decided to use my vet for the wellness visit as I wanted a second opinion from the breeders vet. A lot of vet offices offer a time for a meet & greet with the staff & vet. Once you find one, you can use the wellness visit as a baseline to see how they handle you & your new furbaby.

The breeder said she is called Andromeda but they have taking to calling her Rommie, being a bit of a geek I caught the connection and made a joke asking if she was a real cat or a cyborg.

I think the name is ok, but until have her home and see what she is like not sure if will keep that name, however as she is older ~17 weeks she might not take to a name change, and she does have that bossy boots look or the well it was broken when you left so it wasn't me that did it.

I will probably take her to the local vets to be neutered and get her micro chipped as well.

Do vets have a concept of patient records? Could I ask the breeder for rommie vet records to take to my vet?

    Thanks

    Hello- what a cute girl!
When I picked up my boy, my local vets took the details of the breeders vet and did get his records transferred over; I think they do do that as a matter of course. I'm not sure if that is standard practice everywhere, but they said that they would do it before I'd had the chance to request it!
