Behaviour after neutering
my beautiful 7 month old had "the op" a week ago and her behaviour has totally changed. She was very loving & playful beforehand but is now cowering and absolutely terrified of us. She won't come for a fuss or take food from us. I can't work out if she is in pain or just remembers that we took her to the vet and she is sulking. When our two Norwegian Forest Cats were done they were back to normal in 24hrs. I am really worried that we have changed her for good. Any advise on what we can do to make friends would be greatly appreciated.

Time is on your side and don't show your different behaviour of guilt.

Agree with deovolens as long as she is eating behave as if there is nothing amiss, dogs are very good at laying on the guilt trip for you after routine ops & our beloved MC's being so dog like are exactly the same, its perhaps no surprise about not wanting to play as she has had major surgery & perhaps she is one of the few cats that has taken note of her post op sheet which says she should remain quiet{how many of us on here wish "if only"}but as soon as you start the oh you poor thing she has got you right under her paw & is most probaly wondering what she can get you to feel guilty about next...normal kisses & cuddles at the normal times will work wonders....x

Thank you for your reassurance. The breeder tells me they are stubborn & sulk. I have brought her 10 day post op check forward to today to make sure it's nothing medical.
fingers crossed she comes round soon.

Sidney was "done" last week. The worst bit was that his nether regions were somewhat "untidy" and a little bit whiffy. I asked him to have a bit of a tidy up - he started grooming himself, got just below the waist, stopped and looked up at me with such hurt misery in his eyes - how could I have done that to him?
I rang the vet, and I have passed on the message to Sidney that either he cleans himself up or it's bath time tomorrow....he seems to have spent the whole day grooming!!! Next thing will be hair balls...
I am now mostly forgiven, but he has certainly not forgotten.
