Basil is on as diet of hill science plan chicken. When we got him he was eating a sachet of wet food a day. since then he has tried every wet food on the market and doesn't eat the meat only the jelly or grazy.
I just wondered if anyone else's Maine coon is like this. I know he is getting plenty water as we see him drinking and bathing in it.

My boys are 15weeks they have 2-3 wet sachets of whiskers kitten a day but also availble 24-7 is there royal canin maine coon dry

now i say they have 2-3 sachets but really they too just lick all the jelly of the meat (they dont like the gravy ones) what they leave i give to the older cats i have tried jyst leaving the food till bowl is empty before giving a new sachet but they just sit by it and miaow at me i have saw them pick a piece of the meat up but they then drop it to the floor and my dally eats it lol crafty buggers no wonder there all so close lol
as long as there eating the dry which they are im not that fussed i might stop the fresh in a few months anyway because most is being wasted more than ate.
One of my MC's does the same thing! Spent a fortune on trying to find food he likes! I'm still waiting! He is very difficult to satisfy despite being an X-large coonie! He tires of food very quickly, so I end up rotating. Right now they are enjoying Wellness, canned, turkey in gravy, but he is actually eating the squares of food, not just licking the gravy! Previously, they would not eat Wellness! Conclusion...when he is really hungry he will eat not just lick the gravy, and he needs to experience more pockets of hunger so that he will actually eat! Also, being a very pampered boy does not help this situation!!! (my fault) My girl on the other hand is perfectly normal in this regard, despite being a Princess!!Quote:

I have sent my fiance a text to try mash his food up a bit see if that helps. I have tried mixing in the science plan with the food but that doesnt work he wont touch it at all.
I dont know about cutting wet food out all together. I'll see how we get on with him for the next week mashing it up and take it from there.
Might pay to cut down on amount you actually give for a day or two,give him smaller & more often rations,I find mine like their wet food one side of their bowl & dried the other,don't pile the dried as he will fill on that & ignore wet so just compromise for a short while....xQuote:

Have you tried the Applaws range. We feed all 3 of our cats this including our new MC kitten Loki. We give them a variety including tuna and prawn, tuna and seaweed, chicken and wild rice etc. in fact we use the whole range and Loki also gets the kitten chicken too. We also give them some dry food to ensure they get the necessary nutrients. All 3 of them love it with each having a particular favourite. Loki enjoys it so much she's first in queue and clears up all 3 bowls on a regular basis. We nickname her the eating machine with her appetite. Yep I’ve had this problem. Casco liked wet food initially but when I tried to get him on 100% wet he went right off it. It’s like he was staging a protest to have the kibble back.
I tried various methods, such as sprinkling parmesan cheese or crushed kibble on the top of the wet. It worked for a bit but then he sussed it out and just licked the cheese/kibble off the top.
He’s now on mainly dry food, although can be tempted with the odd pouch of highlife perfection chicken or JWB turkey on occasion. It’s frustrating, I really wanted him on an all wet diet.

Nice to know ive not got the only fusspot puss. Darcie-lu has only eaten Natures Best chicken for 3yrs, refuses to eat any wet food at all, & will take an occasional piece of fresh ham. She seems ok on it though. Our new kitten on the other hand, seems to change his diet daily. Maybe they try everything & then settle on what they prefer.
