Question When should I switch my MC from kitten food to adult?

Hi, guys! My maine coon kitten, Bruce, is 11 months old now and we just ran out of his kitten food. He has been eating Blue Buffalo Kitten food & the bag recommends cats eat it for one full year.
I wasn't sure if it was really necessary to go for another month or not?--I don't want to deprive my kitten of any fats or proteins he may need for his last month of being an official kitten, but I was also wondering if it's not as necessary to go the whole 12 months as I've been thinking--Some people on another forum [thecatsite.com] said that they only do kitten food for up to 6 months.
I also saw someone [on thecatsite.com] say something about continuing to feed their Maine Coon cat the Kitten Food for 3 years because they continue to grow for up to 5 years.
I'm hoping to get some thoughts from people who really know their facts--or just share the best info you can in order to help me figure it out.
    Thank you!
