Mischa The Quiet Kitten
Mischa is now 16 months and I find her so entertaining, when I am in the process of cleaning her litter box out (she uses a very large one with the swing flap) before I have managed to replace the lid she will often come over and with 3 paws outside and 1 paw inside go over the litter once again. Also why, once she has eaten some food she will sometimes stop and start scraping the floor or her stand where her dishes are....is this also a cleaning method for her?? Would love to know why she does this.

she is such s sweetie! she looks like a baby teddy bear on your avatar, Dot! :-D
Neevie does the scraping the floor thing too - all my cats have done it, not always systematically - I rekon it's instinct, in the wild they might want to keep some for later by burrying it? or being very clean creatures they bury to keep it from stinking up nature when it rots... (I'd go for the first option though)
the once over when you change her litter however, I haven't seen that before... I know that cats have their pheromones glands at the root of their claws and their whiskers, that's why they scratch their post and rub their faces against anything and anyone they like... may be Misha is making extra sure it's her litter and noone elses?

Yeah....the water thing...even though she was quite small compared to some of her water bowls (as you will know once full they are quite heavy, especially the ceramic ones...but Mischa used to manage to tip the water all over the floor, my daughter did not believe it until she managed to catch her doing it one day lol. I think she may be just a tad house proud...like me always finding some cleaning..thank you for your reply.

YES! Poor John is the one that had to put up with her crazy! oh such a small world! I've actually met Mischa around Christmas while she was there, and so good and so quiet she put my Monster to shame
John will be looking after Neevie at home again in August. He's actually coming this week end to see if she'll behave this time ;-)

I never had them re arrange the litter but they always like to come and take a big ol stinky poo in the clean litter box, drove me crazy! Miss Ginger is doing so well with her potty training, I may well be litter free in the next few months!!!! I got my paws crossed ;)

Pyggie likes to rearrange the clean litter too. He also likes to meow very loudly whilst rearranging. We have come to the conclusion that he is instructing us on the proper litter distribution method. It doesn't seem to be a negative thing, he is just particular. Maybe you are right, and our Coons are just very house proud.
