Hi Sbreame,
I do fostering for Cats Protection and I can find out what their policy is on kittens as I know they definitely do indoor cats but they are generally older. Have you contacted Cats Protection to find out?
Also if you do go for a breeder and up the amount you can spend then I can recommend Majesticoon in Eastbourne. I haven't got my 2 from their yet but I have visited and their maine coons are soo awesome and friendly and I know another member of these boards has got an MC from them and he rates them highly too.

See I would of thought the older cats would need to be let outside as they have grown up being allowed out... where as kittens are still getting used to a room.
I let my first cat out (DHS moggie) via catflap and she had 2 fights with foxes (she won both, had enough fox hair to make a pillow lol) but I couldn't stop her from going out as she was accustomed of doing so. Not that she really enjoyed going out anyway.
Thanks but we're going to go for either a maine coon cross, or a pedigree. We really would prefer a kitten so we can raise it exactly how we want it to be if that makes sense. It would also be much less stressful for Sampson too.

Ok np, its just you mentioned the RSPC so it sounded like you didn't mind not getting an MC or pedigree as I assume most of the cats the RSPCA have are just ur normal moggy much like Cats Protection. Although we did have 2 british blue hair kittys that were sooo cute, needless to say they got homed quickly
And if you can get £500 together I thought I would mention majesticoon as you wanted sugestions is all. Good luck with your hunt and as others have said be very careful when looking for a cheaper MC.

Yeah we wouldn't of minded a moggie (mum wanted a silver/grey female) but after talking for a bit, we want to get another coon mix / pedigree.
I also got a PM back from majesticoon on facebook, they are going to e-mail me with more details, I think they are the best? (£500 is defo the top-price range haha)

Got an e-mail back from Lucille from Majesticoons... price is £550 for a kitten. I can tell their quality are top-notch but can't say the price tag is welcoming. :(

Right, after having a long chat with mum... we have decided...
We are going to get a kitten from Majesticoons. Their reputation is just too good to pass when it comes to pedigrees. They will have kittens from December onwards and have sent the owner a very long and detailed e-mail about everything (Cat experience, toys, current cat etc)
We have opted to go for a silver boy

That's great to hear Sbreame!! I'm glad you decided to go with Majesticoon as I was a bit worried you would get a cheaper MC and have no end of troubles!! And we may well bump into each other lol at Majesticoon as after waiting for a year I finally was able to email them yesturday to say I could go ahead and get my 2 MC's YEY!!! SOOOO excited and wish it was December now!! And I too am going for Silver boys if she has them, but tbh I wouldn't be too picky with colour lol.

Haha yeah, if it wasn't majesticoon, it would of been another registered breeder that did have a lower price tag... but majesticoon boys grow up to 24lb and are absolutely gorgeous. Oh and regarding colour, it has to be silver :P. Do you have a long way to travel to get to them? It's near Eastbourne... almost 2 hours or so on the train for me, might get my brother to take us in the car though at the time.

Yeah I love the silver colour too, and you'll love visiting Lucille and all the MC's The cats are so friendly and Lucille is really helpful. I only live an hour away so its not too bad and I'll just drive down there when I go to pick them up. Got to get all the bits and pieces ready too, gah sooo much to do
