Smile Is your Coonie a good traveller?

Well Easter is over and we are back from a long weekend away with Winston in tow
We tarvelled for just over 3 hours and Winston sat in his basket in the back of the car.
We have noticed recently that he loves travelling around Dublin on short trips and there is not a peep out of him!

This was our second "long distance" trip and after about 15 min he started to meow. We then made the decision that I would sit in the back of the car with him, and this was the key to a very quiet journey, as he was happy to play and look out the window, whilst I sat beside him!

I guess I will find out tomorrow...

Gryfn has a 1 1/2 hour flight and then it's a 20 minute drive from the airport home....but that will probably be his longest trips ever.... this is a small town and everything is only 5 minutes away max!

Is your coonie a good traveler.

Five are good in the car & one is fine after the three P's,pook, pee & pooh, lovely, luckily they all come at once but unfortunately he is one of the show boys as well ! Merlyn has gone hundreds of miles for shows & even come on holiday with us & he just lays in his carrier & takes it all on board,or sits on my lap wearing a harness & pops up at the traffic lights & gives people a scare,he loves it.Did try them in a crate so they could have a tray but that didn't work at all they seemed to get more upset. We take Bruce to visit my brother who lives over three hours away & half way stop for a cuppa & Bruce goes for a walk around the woods on his harness causing quite a stir especially amoungst the dog population then back in the car & settle down for the rest of the trip.Have to say I think we are pretty lucky with our breed for travelling, the only time mine get vocal is if we turn left out of the estate & they know they are heading in the direction of the vets, then cats chourus doesn't even come into it,who dare says animals are daft ....
Happy travels to you all, especially the new babes.

    Lol, that's so funny !

Haven't been on any journey with Harry yet, except the 3 hour journey to collect him where he was as good as gold ! - The first time I came across a MC was in the cattery and after being absolutely smitten at first sight and asking all different questions to the cattery owner, she told me that the cat who was named "Red" was always carried into the cattery and had a seat belt in the car !

    that is so funny....

Our moggie loves to travel in the car... it's actually quite hard to keep him out of the car. He will sneak in when the kids get in the car or if the door has been left open for a minute. He's always been like that, quite happy to sit on the dash or wander around the car having alook.

My Moggie, Harley, loves the car as long as he is on my knee. Fudge, my prev MC was fab too. She just sat in her box with the lid off so I could stroke her and she was fine. I just hope my new girls will be just as good!

Zack is obviously not ok with travelling after the fiasco on the plane and subsequent vet visit for his cut mouth and upset tummy. I took him back to the vet last night for a check up and he wasnt happy in his cage and cried the whole time. None of my cats have ever been great traveller except a siamese I once had who loved to jump in cars - I think he jumped in a car one day and it took off and I never saw him again!!!!

ps My cats never go outside so that cant happen again!!!

Well Gryfn seems to travel really well. There was no soiling in the cage when I picked him up and he lay quietly all the way on the drive home from the airport.
