Is my kitten a Maine Coon?
I received this kitten from a friend of my neighbor's. She didn't give me any information about her at all, saying she was moving and couldn't take the kitten with. The kitten, which I named Grumbles because of her strange, chirping and grumbling meow, is definitely beautiful. A past Maine Coon breeder told me she could be part MC. She acts like one for sure. She's more dog than cat. She follows me around and always wants attention. She eats everything. She's only 6 months old and she's as tall as and much longer than my other, adult cats. She's always yelling at me for food. She is extremely affectionate but has an attitude. She has a great personality and acts like none of my other cats. Her meow is more of a high pitched chirp and she makes long grumbling noises constantly. She has a very angular face and a huge poofy tail and furry paws. Do you think she is a maine coon or just a pretty long haired tabby? I'm not sure if her color pattern even occurs in MCs.
Thank you!

The truth is, you'll never know! It's possible, but the traits you describe can be applied to lots of other cat breeds. A friend of mine has a ginger moggy who chirrups rather than meows. Her coat looks nice and thick and I don't think she's just a regular domestic short hair, in reality could be any mix of breeds. She's very pretty regardless - and she's not a tabby, shes a tortoiseshell (which is an accepted pattern for an MC, I have one!)
