Attention?
Hello everyone, I recently have been looking into purchasing another cat. My number one choice is a Maine coon, as I love the look of their fur coat, am amazed at their size and love their personalities. At my house I have a large cat named Panther, a beagle named Ruby and a lizard named Marty. My cat Panther only has experience with her mother (who recently passed away) and did not treat her the best. The fought quite a bit, and though Panter is the sweetest little cat when people are around, I think she would need to get used to having another cat around. They weren't violent and never attacked each other, it was more provoking then hissing. She and the dog get along pretty well though, occasionally nuzzling up against each other.
I have been doing research, and every website says they need lots of attention. I am in high school right now, and would be gone from about 7:00 am- 3:00 pm. On some days, my mom is considering working part time. The only ones home for some of the day would be the dog and cat. In summer, I will be home a lot, which is when I was thinking on purchasing the kitten. But in September, I am back in school again. After 3:00, lots of people would be around though. Would this not be enough attention? I devote lots of time and attention to my pets now, on weekends and after school. I would most likely leave the television on in the day so it is not too silent, and chances are that someone would be home on a few weekdays and always on weekends.
Any help would be great!
-also adding that this summer, we need to spend a week out of our house at some relatives in the city. My dog is staying with different relatives, while my cat stays at home, (she's an outdoor cat) with the neighbours checking in every day and feeding her. Should the kitten come with us to the relative's for a week? Or stay at home with Me dropping by for a few hours of the day? I would have to leave her there to sleep, but she would sleep with us at my relative's if she came. Is it alright to take her for a week? It would be at the end of summer, so she would have had about 2 months to get used to the house.Last edited by Kazyrock; 19th April 2015 at 07:45 AM.
