Advice on new kitten
Hi everyone,
I've just placed my deposit on my new gorgeous Maine coon kitten. Just wondering if anyone knows if it's normal that I have to sign a contract to say I will castrate him. (I was planning on doing this anyways as I want him as a pet only), but a friend told me it is my choice once I buy him.
The breeder told me that to buy a MC and wanting to breed him I would have to pay around a 1000 pound. Does that sound right?
Sorry for my lack of knowledge I'm a first time pedigree buyer!
Thanks all

Thanks, was just curious really!
Can't wait to get my baby boy-who judging by your pic is exactly the same colouring-gorgeous!

I make all my new kitten owners sign a contract to say they will be spayed/neutered before they are 6 months old and no-one has ever questioned it.
Your friend is wrong to say it is your choice as your breeder has sold to you as a pet.

he is a silver and white tabby, and I've been told he'll get much lighter too, I can't wait! Got one decent pic as it was so hard to keep him still! Will try and upload soon

Jenny I'm also a first time pedigree owner. I also had to sign a contract, but to be honest I had no intention of breeding my MC and even if there had been no contract to sign, he would have had "the snip" fairly quickly
However I have a Russian work mate who bought a Persian Cat last year and she was furious that she had to sign a contract. She has owned pedigree cats previously in Russia and wants her cat to have one litter so is not adhering to the policy.
Also my local vet (cat specialist) and a long-standing Irish Pedigree Cat breeder who I have both spoken to over the last few weeks, have also had strong views on the matter and would not be totally in agreement with the enforced contracts.
