I got Sarah in winter when she was 6 months old and she had a short coat and at about 10 months ( at the start of summer) the long coat kicked in as you can see from the recent photos of her. She has been losing hair at a great rate of knots but so far is still long so I think it may sort itself out in the second year.

Winter Coat
I took my silver boy to a show midsummer a couple of years ago & amused everyone as he had the most fantastic thick winter coat on him that you could imagine,at the moment with the two "babe" brothers one has a really thick coat & is shedding a lot of the undercoat but the other ones coat is pretty fine & loosing nothing, they honestly all seem to differ, our red & white boy for seven years has had nothing but the same full silky coat with a smashing tail & ruff, the number of times I have wished I could transplant his ruff & tail onto one of the show cats who have shed theirs....always at the wrong time !
Will wait to hear what happens with your babe.
