    Grinding teeth?

Chester appears to be crunching/grinding his teeth at times. He has nothing in his mouth, but makes this crunching kind of sound. Is it common for kittens who are going through a 'biting' stage to do this?

    Thumbs up Hi....

Not posted for ages but read your question and just thought I'd let you know that both our kittens went through a stage of sounding like something was stuck in their teeth or that they were grinding them, with ours you only heard it when they closed there mouth after yawning. When I looked inside there was never anything to see and then one day the little back teeth looked a little wonky and the gums were red, they were eating and not behaving any differently so I put it down to teething. It passed and the teeth are bigger, normal looking and solid now with pink (not red gums) plus they were chewing everything in sight, so all the cables had to have plastic speed-fit pumbing pipe slid over them and black-tape (for behind the TV etc.) My advice would be not to worry, vets are so exspensive I find that it is very clearly a business and less and less a love for the animals so I would just keep an eye on things and see if passes, if my memory serves me right it would have been about 3 or 4 months ago, making them probably about 6 months old. Hope this helps. Gra.

Chester is doing great. He is spritely, energetic, eating well, drinking well and very happy and loving. He isn't grinding his teeth as much lately, so I suspect it's just a teething thing as he was wanting to bite a lot at the time. His gums aren't looking any different or too red.

Hi yes i had noticed in your earlier comment that was only when they yawned , that is exactly when it happens to my cat, as she yawns then closes her mouth, but she is now 7 months and only started grinding at about 6 months, I did take to the vets but they said she looks like she already has her new teath, so not sure why she still does it, thank u for ur reply .

    Grinding Teeth

Our boy was grinding his teeth and making clicking noises at 5 to 6 months then one day all these "Big" teeth appeared!! We just assumed he was teething and the noises were his milk teeth parting company with his gums.
