re: Parrot and maine coon
I am going through a bit of the same. We have had a Yellow Naped Amazon (Cuca Loca) fpr eleven years. We just brought a maine coon kitten (Samantha) home about two weeks ago. She is sixteen weeks old now.
Our kitten and our holland lop rabbit get along fine and play together every morning. The problem is that our Nape is a bit of a chicken. He is afraid of anything new.
I will post a few pictures of the interaction amongst the three.

Things are heating up here...I can't even stay on the computer long enough to do anything because I'm monitoring the kitten/parrot situation every second. The kitty wakes up in the morning full on, running, jumping, batting toys...he's like the Energizer Bunny...he keeps going, and going, and going...
If I don't stay right on top of him he tries to get to Lola. I turned my back for just a minute this morning and heard Lola say "Get DOWN!"...turned around and he was climbing onto the top of her cage where she was eating.
OK...here's what I have so far for a name...
"Mean-Ass Spider-Monkey Striped-Snake Ninja Cat"
When my daughter called this morning I told her the name and she said "So pick one and go with it". I said "That's it...it's a long name." LOL!
...guess I'm gonna have to narrow it down a little bit.

Oh, cool...I found the pics of the kitty, rabbit and parrot!
How neat! If this kitty gets that close to Lola she tries to bite him and then laughs.
I always get him away from her so she can't bite him...she can do some major damage with that beak and I don't want her to hurt the kitty.

Basil, my feisty Grey has always established his superiority by giving the cats a nip,or trying to. With my last cat, the hunter, he flew around the room making a terrible noise, then swooping and landing on her with beak and claws. He had her on her back then running for cover and she never went near him after that. However she would sit quietly on the sofa with my other Grey, Pepsi, who is much more gentle. No blood has ever been drawn as there is plenty of fur protection, but it's the shock factor that puts the message across.
Potentially a small or medium parrot is the more vulnerable, so provided they are supervised I think the cat needs to learn that this is no ordinary bird and is not to be messed with. One has to be careful with the larger birds though as friend has a large parrot which amputated his cat's tail before he could save it. Basil has certainly made a lunge for tails which come his way, as well as the inquisitive nose poked near the bars of his cage.
As hard as it is, we need to remain calm so as not to escalate a tricky situation and excite the cat or bird. My new feline resident has just settled in and now that everyone has stopped growling at each other I need to do some "introductions", so here we go again!
