Cat Shows
Probably a daft question I know, but how do I find out when and where the cat shows are on in my area (Hampshire/Berks/Surrey).
I'm not interested in showing myself, but I would love to go and have a look around - are they open to the general public or do you have to be showing to attend?
All of my other cats have been moggies so never ventured into this area before but it looks intruiging!
Thanks
Rachel

I don't think that's a daft question - I had to ask my breeder!
The shows are held under 3 main bodies as I understand it - GCCF, TICA and Fife (or Felis Britannia). If you look at the UK websites for each, you'll find a show diary. They're in date order, so you'll need to scan down the list for the ones local to you.
I've been to two shows this year, and was a spectator at both - you pay a couple of quid on the door and wander around at your hearts content. I wasn't so keen on the GCCF show but really liked the TICA one - that's when I decided I'd give it a go with Freyja and we were booked up to do a show in October in Kent but got back from our holiday to a flooded house and had to pull out. Hoping to try again in January though.
If you decide to go along to any Surrey ones, let me know and I might come along and meet up with you.

GCCF shows can be a bit cliquey... I always talk to anyone who comes over, but it is a long day for everyone and unfortunately by the time the general public can come in (at 1.00pm) a lot of the cats are asleep! One thing for sure though, you will see some fab cats... do buy the programme then you can find out whats what, as the pens do not tell you much. And don't leave your credit card behind cos you'll often get a show discount off food and litter and treats too.

Cat Shows
I would say to anyone not sure if either they or kitty would be happy at a show then go along to either FB or TICA first to find out.FB is a lot slower paced than TICA but at both of those you don't have to leave the hall for the first three hours & are left wondering how your little darling is,plus in those three hours you wander around the town & spen even more money,on yourself....
With either of these two you are with them all the time & public are allowed in a lot earlier. I think it is into the New Year before FB is down your way again,December is Rugby & January Milton Keynes, not sure after that.Wouldn't it be great if some of us could all meet up at one with the furries,we could request a Maine Coon Forum row....
