Holidays!
I can't quite believe I am contemplating this, but we are now considering a week's holiday next year in Devon, taking our Coonies with us LOL!
Have found this gorgeous barn conversion between Exmoor & Dartmoor with floor to ceiling windows on the entire first floor and they are pet friendly accommodation - I can just see our two gazing out at the wildlife chirruping away. It's only £300 for a week and a cattery alone for the both of them would soon add up.
Welcome to Lower Chilverton - Home Page
My question really is has anyone been on holiday with their little ones before, and do you think they would be stressed by the journey down? It's about 2 1/2 hours from where we live and we would consider stopping for a litter tray toilet stop about halfway. They both travelled just over an hour from their breeders in Wiltshire and were fine. Any thoughts on this would really be appreciated - I thought it would be lovely for them to have a holiday too but obviously don't want to cause any undue stress.
What do you guys think?

Holidays..
We booked a holiday with parents back in 2007 & then found the FB had their two day show just down the road at Thornbury, where we were staying was pet friendly so we phoned the owners & asked if that would cover taking a cat with us...
It took us four hours,no break needed, Merlyn travelled on his harness & laid on his bed between mum & dad all the way with just an occasional window appearance to cause some fun at traffic lights,he settled into his holiday home as if he had been there before & we all had a great weeks holiday. I would say go for it & enjoy their company,we wouldn't hesitate to do it again, not all six at once though.....

Does look great doesn't it - the woman who owns it seems lovely - and is very keen to meet her first Coonies! At the moment, I'd keep them in because they're indoor cats and the upstairs alone is 40 foot long so plenty of room for them to thunder along the length of it in their hob nail boots! Having said that, once the weather improves after the winter I'm going to try and get them used to venturing outside when we're in the garden - so there's every chance they can come out with us on the farm - even if on a harness. I'm loving the mental image of them causing chaos at traffic lights JCK - thanks for that! x

Have been trying to find the pen drive that had those holiday pictures on & typicaly lost at the moment,we had taken a big cage with us in case of problems, which there were none, but I did put it up outside the door in the mornings while the sun was on that part so we could open everywhere up for a while to air through,he also went for walks with us around the garden on his harness.People walking past in the mornings could see him sitting out in the cage & by the middle of the week the cottage owners must have told people his name because they used to say goodmorning Merl as they went past.
The more I sit here thinking about it would love to take him again, perhaps there will be a lot of MC's packing their toothbrushes & combs next year, they are lucky they don't have to worry about clean knickers & socks but I know Merl still seemed to somehow end up with more in his case than us,even better we came home from that hol with every mouse & ball.
Now going to look at where you are off too Rachel...

Hi Rachel, wow what a fab place, I am sure they would love it there. So much nicer than being in a cat pen at the cattery all week. We recently went away (abroad) so had to put them in the cattery and they were fine, but I hated leaving them. If we were to holiday in the UK, without a doubt would take Harry, not Poppy our dsh as she would find that stressful and hates staying in so she would be safer being left at home with friends or family to keep an eye on her. As for the journey that isn't that long really it will be an adventure for them !! Alison x
