Lets start on a nice note......Paddington is doing really well and is lovely.
Right.....he farts all the time. Real room clearing, gut wrenching eye watering botty burps.
It's always when i have plonked him on someone's lap and they are cooing about how lovely he is then he lets rip.
Any other kitties do this?
Any chance this is just a kitten thing? (Please say yes...)

:shy: I did see a farting cat on an awful programme called 'pet shame' once! I'm trying to remember what they did to try and cure him.... Sorry that's not very helpful!
I'm a bit of a fan of pureed pumpkin to soothe dodgy bellies- might be worth a go? Just a couple of teaspoons in his normal food...
Little Minnie used to fart quite a bit when she first came to live with us. I remember being amazed that such a huge smell could come out of such a tiny kitty.:LOL: But after a week or two it stopped, so I put it down to the change in surroundings and food... did you change Paddington's food?
On a brighter note: at least he has earned his first nickname... Fartypants.:rofl:
If I feed them too rich a food they will all let them rip especially if it is in gravy,but the worse offender & sorry yes he still does it although not all the time now,is Welly,boy he can clear a room pretty quick,the natural thing is to say "Welly you have done it again" & I think he thinks you are talking to him direct so he hops onto your lap,turns round bum in your face & swishes his tail,cor blimey,luv for him leaves pretty quickly for a while.
The one who makes us laugh though is Bruce,he gets very embarressed over personal things,he always tries to turn his back on you to wash downstairs but on the occasions he has farted he looks round as if he can't believe it comes from his bottom then without us saying anything his head & tail goes down & he slinks off into the hall & vanishes for a couple of hours,I am sure the white on his face would go as red as the rest of him if it could....
With dogs they say charcoal biscuits are a good thing,don't know if there is an equivalant for cats,I reckon with Paddington its just due to changes,everything crossed for you,bit chilly to have everywhere opened to air through at the moment !
Indeed we have noticed this much more with kittens. Zephyr in particular used to have some issues with gas when young, but this is now very rare at just over one year of age. So age probably does play a role. Obviously you can also try to see if some particular food is causing it. One would suspect that dry food with high carbohydrate content could be an cause, though particular protein sources could be as well (e.g., have know cats that seemed to have issues with fish).
Our two kitties do too Jolly - particularly when they're excited about something!!! Am hoping they'll grow out of it :-D
My cats do not fart but my dog does she looks so funny and surprised jumping round and round at her tail end, it maybe the diet but I think it could be as you say Candes eating too fast because my dog woofs her food down in seconds.
Larry used to be a very farty kitten, and surprise surprise, he was the #1 champion food guzzler. He's much better now, so yes I think they do grow out of it. Thank goodness!!
Oh I remember the first time it happened, we had only had them for a couple of weeks and I could not believe that something so pungent could come out of something so small and cute, I emailed my tame vet the next morning and his response was oh yes it happens and they should grow out of it but not before they had done it a couple of times when you had visitors............and yes he was right! We had more than one race for the patio doors to get away from the stench but they seem to have stopped now (fingers crossed) Honestly it would strip paint:winkwink:
