We've got 2 trays similar to Rachel-C's ... it appears to be the same base, but we don't have the enclosed house on top! Great Deals on Cat Litter Boxes & Cat Accessories at zooplus: Jumbo Cat Litter Box with Rim. We had the same problem in that 'bits' were being chucked over the edge, but these work really well, no spills now!

I managed to get quite a large litter tray from Aldi the other week, it's a covered in one and Kenny seems to fit in it OK at the moment, although I guess he still has some growing to do yet. He didn't like the flap door so promptly got that off but he sits in it with his head poking out and then goes back in it to do the covering up bit.

Mine use the largest standard litter tray because they just about fit in those. I wouldn't use a covered one as they tend to pose rather upright when they go! However, I did have the problem with them digging the litter out of the trays, so I have put each tray into an enormous cardboard box, cut down to half height to give them some privacy with a lower cut in the front as a kind of entrance. Not particularly stylish but cheap and very functional. They seem happy and I can tip the clean spilt litter back into the tray when I clean it out.

I got Elvis & Coco the largest plastic storage bin I could find at the friendly local shopping labyrinth.

It was <US$20 and holds an entire 40 lb bag of litter

Elvis had troubles with a smaller box.

It's in the basement so they don't need a covered one.

I put the lid underneath to help capture the wayward litter bits.
