Has anyone ......................
done their family tree ? Or would you like to do your family tree ? If you have how far back did you get and how rewarding did you find it ! It was always something I wanted to do and a few years ago I invested a great deal of time doing it ! I managed to get back to 1654 and was delighted to be able to get birth, marriage and death certificates (1854 onwards) and entries in church records for before that time. Certificates as we know them have only been in force here from 1854 so parish records were the place to go for this information before 1854 and they are such informative records in the parish books.
So tell me if you have ventured into your past and if you found anything that interested you that you didnt know about or if you found any skeletons in your family tree !!!Chris X

well, I started mine a looooong time ago - but from the UK, with my family in France, was a bit hard
BUT one of my uncles on my mum's side did it - he went as far back as 14xx! and guess what, I'm in-bred! yeah! in 15somthing, 2 ancestors started making babies, who had babies with other people, but one couple in 18something was direct descendants both of them of that 15something couple! ain't that shameful!? my dad said he always suspected... ;-)
anyway, seeing as he had done so good, I decided it didn't need to be done any more (also, kind of got put out by all the work involved - but don't tell anyone)
also, I know one of my great-gread(...)-grandma's on my dad's side was a foundling - she was found near a school in a street called Rue de Venise somewhere, so they called her Scholastique Venise... oh well I guess that was the least of her problems after all...

Did the geneology back to1746. Last ancestor on record was Jacob' married to Phereby' sons Young & Hartwell plus others.
Couldn't go back any farther because there was a fire in the court house of Prince of Wales county destroying many records.
Found some desperados in the woodpile, a few questionable killings, some partcipants in the war berween the states' some died. A few reprobates who participated in other scandalous behavior.

I have done some genealogy, my mom's family is from Germany and my father's is from England. I love to research history and learn about English history. It must be easier to research if your family stayed in the same country. No skeletons in the closets that I have found so far! I am 2nd generation American, my grandparents immigrated to the US.

Alekto so to much like hard work !!! lol I bet you are glad your uncle did it. There is just so much you can find out and yeah it seems to be quite common in breeding, keeping it in the family so to speak !!! lol Aw and a wee baby found near a school, what a shame, but at least she survived to bear witness that is a good thing and without her you wouldnt be here !

Yeah can relate to the fires destroying just what you need to get further back !!! And when you say some desperados and a few questionable killings you are ofcourse referring to ancestors not present day decendants !!!!! lmao
Oh I did the American Civil war in history so were your ancestors all on the one side or were they split ? And I definately want to know about the reprobates who participated in scandalous behavior ! ......spill the beans Whyemier !Chris X

Oh Donna you are a proper mix, Germany and England and American to, very eclectic. I agree it is much easier to do if everyone is in the same country, so far I am 100% Scottish !!! lol Some of my family (grand fathers brothers) emigrated to America so we still have relations over there. Apparently Jim Reston a nephew of my grandfather, worked for the New York Times ! We Scots get everywhere !!! lmao
Sorry you havent found any skeletons they can be so much fun to unearth so keep looking !!! lolChris X

Yes, Nothing too exciting although I have a friend that is related to a US president (Eisenhauer) and to a president murderer(Booth) she has so many nationalities in her blood, its like the united nations! hahaha You Got to love ancestry! I always thought I was German until I did some research, my dad's folks passed away before I was born so I did not know them. My Mom's folks were German farmers and spoke German on and off. My grandpa taught me words I can not repeat hahaha
