Thread: I dont mind admitting it.............................

Chris, No not afraid of spiders, but I absolutely hate Centipedes! Yuck! They give me the heeby geebys!!! I like spiders cause they eat other bugs, I tell my daughter she can not kill them because if you do it rains! just saying...........but if I see a centipede I run screaming like a little girl ;) Ginger will eat ants, so yay go Ginger!

OMG they are horrible and very fast!

Don't care for the spiders much, bugs in general I guess. I do recall the one that ran and hid under the toaster(double slice) and its legs stuck out on either side.

Don't have a photo of one but we get the big nasty centipedes here in Florida, semi-tropical doncha know. 6 or7 inches (150 - 180 mm) long, yellowish orange, with a blue vein that runs its entire length and a toxin that will make you powerful sick. I've only seen four in my entire life but I gave them and will continue to give then a wide berth. Kill on sight is justified with these

O, the cats kill and eat the spiders.

(They have eight eyes because they are the high predator in their realm. )

Whemier, Yes, you are right! I am a little girl at heart. I love Daytona Beach, the Ex and I used to hit up Bike Week every spring, love riding in the sun after a long winter in MN. I have seen the biggest cockroaches ever in FL, I saw some big men get up and leave a restaurant when some ran off from under their plates hahaha. By the way you can keep them there with the killer centipedes, yikes!

I have a two slice toaster Whyemier and OMG again, no way I would have been out of that kitchen like a bat out of you know where !!! lol And a no to those centipedes to, I am glad I live in Scotland !!! lol Glad to hear that the cats eat the spiders, will be training Frazer up !!! lol

I don't like spiders on me - I can cope with them if they leave me alone and don't try to crawl on any part of me. I won't kill them but if I see them I'll nicely ask Husband to gently pick them up and release them outside...
The only thing I can bear to kill without my concience worrying me too much is mosquitoes - GOD I HATE THEM! I once woke up with my eye swollen to double the size coz one had decided my eyelid looked nice and tasty... they do love me though - you can say we have a love/hate relationship. If I suspect one might be hiding in the bedroom I won't go to sleep till I have explored every wall and every corner and I'm satisfied there is none there. I could never ever ever live in a tropical climate. Just thinking about them I'm itching all over now and Neevie is looking at me "what ya doin you crazy human?". When we go to Ukraine I spend my evenings slapping myself and shouting "die!" like I have tourette...

My stepdaughter is the same way, so funny. You would hate Minnesota I think the mosquito is our state bird! We have many lakes and swamps here so we get a bumper crop of them every year! They spray the swamp by my house and it keeps them down somewhat but I have to keep the birdbaths clean and not let any water sit in pans etc. haha Neevie is a brave pirate! My Ginger loves to eat the sugar ants, but not a lot of other bugs that I see in the house.

I am NOT a "bug" lover - but still have trouble killing them. Oscar (RIP) was my kindred sprit - in ten years I never saw him kill a bug! Happily, we don't have many in the Arizona desert but those we do have are rather strange... Scorpions, tarantulas (yikes) and the occasional fly. I do have to say what really makes me squeamish are RATTLE SNAKES or snakes of any kind. They are so creepy! Have had several close encounters and can live without any more experiences!

Oh, the creepiest thing of all to me ... SLUGS! Absolutely disgusting!!!

We are on the subject of insects! Who opened this thread? Chris??? OK, here is something I don't ever want to relive! I once lived in Rio de Janeiro (home of gigantic cockroaches). One day while shopping in Copacabana, I saw something dart out in my peripheral vision. The next thing I noticed there was something trapped between the arch of my foot and my sandal, about 5 to 6 inches long - antenna on one side of my foot and the anterior legs on the other. GROSS!!! I looked down and started madly kicking my foot. Eventually my sandal and the cockroach went flying but in the process, I had managed to gather a rather good sized crowd watching me hysterically trying to free my foot of the cockroach! (Embarrassing!). Once my sandal AND the cockroach were a half a block away, I calmly (and with as much dignity as possible) caught the closest taxi (with one shoe) and went home. I have never forgotten the feeling of that "shell" under my foot!!! I really hate those things! I have sooooo many other bug stories but think I will spare you.....
