Chris, They are very exciting to witness, as long as you are a safe distance away! I have seen large and small tornadoes personally and have been fortunate enough not to be effected by their wrath. Have you ever heard of storm chasers? They follow storms around the US and collect data. Now that must be a real exciting job!!!
Whyemier, I wonder how many of the lightening deaths are golphers? Is it the lightening or the tree that falls on them that kills them? Either way it is very horrible :( I love to lay in bed and listen to the thunder and rain. As far as camping goes, I prefer a nice hotel with clean sheets and a hot tub!
