Just out of curiosity does anybody.........

........also own or have owned a Border Collie? The reason I'm asking is that I am also a member of a Border Collie forum and after posting photos of my Coony boys on there I am surprised by the number of Border Collie owners who have Maine Coons too. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised as both breeds are highly intelligent and make great companions so that could be the connection to the attraction.

Nope - we have a 4 1/2 month old black lab girl...I guess a lot of the traits are similar though in that they are both also people orientated breeds and crave human companionship

We haven't got any dogs at the moment, but I have had labradors in the past, two yellow and one black, all boys and a little cocker spaniel ;)

My boyfriend has grown up with a Collie and says he likes MCs because they have a similarly fluffy neck...

His dog is nuts though - really paranoid and tempermental. I hope Teddy doesn't turn out the same way!

I've heard it said that MCs are the border collies of the feline world, and my friend who has 2 border collies recommended the MC breed to us. Our dog-friendly friends who don't like cats, do like our MCs. So maybe there is a connection there, somewhere!

I have a BC black/white called Meg, she is about 3 years old. Meg was very good when MAisie came to live with us. She is jealous but not in the slightest bit aggresive. If I am having a cuddle with Maisie , Meg comems along and nudges and nudges me for her share of affection, it can be very funny.

    That's cute Elizabeth

Dave says the reason he likes Collies and MCs is that they're both clever...
