A sad day :-(
Early this morning I lost Smudge, my rat, who was 3 years, 7 months, 1 week and 5 days old (yes, I counted).
She had a mild stroke and then, whilst I was holding her, she had a massive stroke and died in my arms.
I will miss her terribly and Moshi seems to be just as upset. I've had to move Smudge's cage as she keeps sitting by it and miaowing very softly, which is heartbreaking to hear
Even though I've moved the cage, she still keeps coming up to me and looking at me with that "what happened" face. They were, strangley enough, good friends.
Thankfully, Smudge is now with her sister Pepper the otherside of the rainbow and I know they'll be having a great time.
RIP Smudge, my little furry princess xxx

Hugs. It's so hard not to feel broken when we lose any of our friends and family. And these guys, species not relevant, are our family. x

MoshisMum
It IS very hard loosing a loved pet. When I read how Moshi was acting, I felt a wave of sadness. Then, I remembered the Dog Whisperer - Cesar Milan. OK not a rat or cat person. Our pets pick up on our energy - very quickly. Yours is in a low state now. So, I guess must be Moshi is picking up on yours. Remember dogs and cats 'live in the moment.' Certainly Buddy does. I've picked him up when I'm cross, his behaviour/mood changed for the worse, I saw the change and calmed myself down AND it worked. He became the laid back maine coon we adore. Hope some of this ramble helps. Cuddy
