My MC is upset with me - how can I make him like me again?
I've got a 3yr old MC which I got as a kitten. He has always been very friendly, purrs when you stroke him, very vocal and engaging with me. He's never been a lap cat, he likes his space but does want affection.
However all this changed 3weeks ago. He came to the back door when I called him, then darted off sidewards back into the garden to play games, but as he swung round, he bumped his head on a small plastic bin next to the door. I saw the look on is face when he briefly stared at me - he though it was me that had hit him and it was my fault. He didn't realise he had bumped into it himself as its not usually there. i have never hit my cat. He spent the next 2 days avoiding me. Now, three weeks down the line, he will sit on the couch with me, but he won't purr. I can stroke him and he tollerates me, but I can tell he blames me still. He only chirps /meows at meal times, other than that he is punishing me. He is not nasty in any way. I have tried treats, extra strokes & attention but he just doesn't warm to me like he used to. He is aloof and distant with very hurt feelings.
Any suggestions how I can get him to like me again? I feel sad that he is sad.
