On your pc, open the photo with Microsoft Office Picture Manager and choose the edit picture option. Choose Compress Picture and check the web page option. Save a copy and it's tiny compared to the original. The alternative is to upload your pics to Photobucket or similar and post the link. There's some good in-depth stuff in the forum help and FAQs.
