Make Your Own Cat Toys: Inexpensive Do-It-Yourself Playthings For Your Pet
I went to our local cheap shop and craft shop and bought a bag of feathers, large pompoms and some cord and bells all for under $10AU so will have a go at making some fishing lures. I have some dowell at home so I will use that.
This site is great... there's a lot of great ideas and links here....

Definately value for money and our older cat has road tested them too and loves them!:winkwink::nod:
Well done they look good. I had a look at the site - I think my daughter might enjoy making some too.
A mothers' plight and worry ... :smile::shy:
Sebastian and the others loved and love in the following order:
Soft!!!!! foam balls for about 0.60 Eur each
- they hide I find and deposit them in their toy basket - 5 min later they are all hidden again. They love to "carry" them around.
String or bead chains -
like the ones on christmas trees - I gave them a meters length of the big pearls - they make a noise on the floor and snake around.
Cat teasers for 3 Euros each
and all the rest they can get their paws on and in - like the water bowl. One investment I did NOT regret was a STURDY and TALL cat scratch drumm (not a post but a cylinder with big caves) so they can claw away without falling over.
BTW a neat toy for kitten is a shoe carton with a few paw size holes cut into. Place a ball. string or treat inside and watch - or an IKEA paper shopping bag ....
HAVE FUN:koolkat:
:shy: Forgot one thing ----
A dog!! They sure give mine a good run at ntimes and a fish tank as "Pussycat TV"
WOW! You have been busy! They look great. Funnily enough I was doing some arts and crafts with my toddler today and Hank took a fancy to those small glitter pom poms, but had to take it off him because they are small enough to be swallowed.
Great idea Scrapdragon, I know what I'll be doing during the week! Lol
Thanks puttycat... there's some great ideas there.
they only took me about an hour to make ria and the pom poms are big ones
Wow you made some great toys!!!
I just make tinfoil balls which he adores batting around the floor.
The best toys we have bought are "Squeaky Mouse! little plastic balls with a bells in and his feather stick. we also bought a grey rat in Ikea to hang on his cat tree and he really adores batting this about. Much better then the small white mice which were attached to the tree!
I have found that Winston also loves Ikea bags which Putty cat mentioned. Actually you can get small cat sized ikea bags in the pet section which have furry tails attached to them. I got one for less then €3. Makes a great storage bag for his toys as well!
