HI! I'm new so I hope this works. The little plastic balls with the bell inside (you didn't mention they are like MESH plastic) so they can be carried around the house (SO FUNNY to look at)! I have been buying them for about 40 years, and we call them "Bicky Balls". So far Sammy & Spooner have been here 3 months and none have been stepped on yet, so there are around 20 on the floor about now!! I keep buying them....can't imagine being without them!!! my cat likes to get in bags but seems to go through the handle of the bag and then panics once she is in them and runs around in blind panic with it hanging on to her neck, so we now have to hide bags as it has happened 3 times now
The bags that Ikea sell are a plastic /canvas material and are extremely crinkly.Quote:

Our cats love a ping pong ball in the bathtub. They swat it around and it bounces all over. Only problem now is they are big enough to get the ball in their mouth and after playing a while they take it out of the tub. We have 6 Ping Pong balls somewhere in the house. LOL Once in a while I find one where it rolled under something or got behind something and put it back. Again it only lasts a while and gone again, but they do love playing with them
We have a box of cat toys which do get used, but Larry and Monty's favourite toy is a scrunched up piece of paper, any size will do. I can get their attention instantly by taking a piece of waste paper and scrunching it up noisily, then they play football with it for ages.
The other thing is that Larry is totally obsessed with the dishcloth. If he so much as sees me wiping the kitchen counter, he comes flying across the room and if I'm not careful, he runs up my leg and tries to swipe the cloth from my hand -ouch!- boy you should see the scratches! He's 3.2kgs now so he's really too big to be doing this. It's impossible to wipe any surface with Larry in the room. He also relieved me of the brush the other day when I was sweeping up crumbs.
We have started to discourage Larry's climbing habit by flicking him with water - if we can get him in time! Talk about rough and tumble - it's like having a dog!
Ohhh yeah, could imagine that would be painful. Harry's favourite is the laser pen, it's a good way of burning off energy, he'll chase it for ages up and down the hallway, up the stairs etc. It's funny really because we keep all his toys in an old shoe box by the side of the settee, and when he wants to play he will drag it out into the middle of the room and just look at you. As soon as I pick the laser pen up, before turning it on he's searching around the floor for it, not so green as he is cabbage looking !!!
Gryfn and charlie brown love the ping pong balls... other balls just aren't the same, but give them a ping pong ball and they go nuts!
There's about 7 hidden around the house now ... and I can't find any of them! :rofl:
Simba's favourite thing to play with is a feather. I usually pick them up on walks with the dogs and bring him them back. He gets so excited when he sees I have a prezzie for him and spends ages playing with it. The other day I found a pheasants feather and he though that was great:smile:
Expensive catnip toys? No interest... only the occasional half-hearted slap when walking past.
The lid of a coke bottle (big, plastic-y ones) and an empty Läkerol pack with a piece of string attached? Best toys... they even fetch it if they want me to play with them.
Even a piece of string tied to a chair will make an interesting toy.
