FURminator deSheading Tool

OK i Brush Eddie every day with a Bamboo brush photo 1 , this brush works well and has 2 combs with it for mats and such , i got a lot of hair off Eddie ( or i thought )

I then found and bought the Furminator , ( sounded good at the time )
So i get this Furminator in the mail the other day i open it up and i see its very well made , i call Eddie and run it down him ( i just brushed him hour earlier ) And

Let me tell you this thing brought out hair and more hair then more hair top coat isn't affected but it brings out the under coat that is shedding ,

I get a ball of hair the size of a hairy softball . i flip the cat over and have a 2nd hairy softball , Eddie liking this he go's belly up and i get the 3rd hairy softball size ,

it brings out the very fine hair i was sitting on the couch wile i did it , I was a hair ball after using this , so I'm setting up a grooming table for Eddie for now on ,

All i can say is this is simply Amazing brush , i bought it for 13.55 US with free shipping off ebay , but i seen them go for a little cheaper , but i didn't want to Wait for auction to end so i did a buy it now ,

ALL in All it was a very good find and buy i recommend this brush

I have one of those for my dogs - they are good but mine is too big to use on Simba.

they make 3 different sizes i bought the Med size 2.65 in. or a smaller one 1,75 i believe if i remember right , i might pick that one up also so i can get in to the nooks and cranny's ,

Eddie just lays down and streaches out his leg to say do there and there ,

On a note of caution there are a lot of fake ones out there, but if you buy a real one at the moment they are packed with a free waterless shampoo from the same range. The Company of Animals has the rights into the vet stream and they alerted us to the fakes as they can be poorly made. I have used both the FURminator and a Whal one which has a vibrating feature on my friends golden retrevier and found he prefers the vibrating one but they both shift the same amount of hair! He was used as the tester as FURminator use a goldie in their ads.

This is a good tool. Word of caution. Give your cat/dog a brush over using a regular brush before using this deshedding tool. The edges are sharp so do not press too hard so that there is no skin or minimal skin contact between the edges of this tool. This tool is NOT designed to replace your regular brush for daily use.

You must make sure there are no tangles and matting BEFORE you use this tool to remove the undercoat.

I always use this tool with a vacuum cleaner in one hand so that the fur removed by this tool will be sucked into the cleaner before it gets a chance to fly all over the place. Infact, after using this tool on my boys, I will use the vacuum cleaner on them a once over to remove any loose hair.

If you use this tool daily, you'll end up with a hairless cat very soon! LOL! :)

this is all true its for taking away there lose hair , not for every day brushing with a normal brush

you don't want a hairless cat so use the brush when needed and know when to stop

Furminator is a great grooming tool as previously said use with care.
My black smokes are my only cats that are likely to matt, because the silver is very soft and fine.
After they have had their regular brushing I will only use the Furminator to check for and remove matts and never use it on their tails. I do not use it at all for my show cats - because it will remove that extra coat you need to add that panache when exhibiting

The Furminator seems so effortless yet brings out more than you'd first thing. I bought mine a few years ago after seeing a demonstration on QVC and continue to use it now. I wouldn't recommend this with kittens as there just isn't the fur and I think it's a bit heavy to be handled with such a young one. There aren't the cheapest of brushes but it's durable and works well.

The Furminator got a good bit of it, including the thick undercoat that used to get horribly matted
but I didn't really care for the way it left his coat afterwards.

It's hard to describe, but it seemed as if it was more bristley ( if that's a word ) than soft and silky like it was before...

I still have the one I used on Bubba ( genuine Furminator, not a knock-off) , I'll sell it for US$20 + postage to wherever... PM/Email me.

I definitely didn't like the way one of my cats felt after using the ferminator,they are meant to have a soft undercoat as well,luckily I hadn't used it on the cats that show.I find a normal metal comb works well in general but at bad times of the year when you do need to get the old undercoat out I use a comb with two different length teeth,think it is classed as a moulting comb,removes bucketfulls of dead hair but still leaves a super soft undercoat,that & the slicker brush soon has them sorted.....!

:rofl:I took Freyja to a Groomer's a few weeks ago to sort out a couple of mats she's developed. Groomer did a great job but went a bit overboard with the Ferminator - her tail still hasn't recovered, and I've also noticed her coat is less soft than it was; I guess it stripped out the soft undercoat. She's not bristly, but she's not as soft as she was - now we're hitting summer, I don't suppose her coat will return to 'normal' until the weather gets cooler again. I've got Wicca booked in next week for the same Groomer and I'll leave instructions about Ferminator use - Wicca's got some fair old plumage these days and it would be heart breaking if she could no longer dust as she walks...!:rofl:
