Malibu
Nearly two years ago I agreed to take on Malibu
It was because a friend could only have one cat according to the revised lease.
He was very close to a female littermate who had recently died back then and was never the same...he did not associate with other cats or was bullied by them. With my three other cats, he did not associate with them, and would spar with Spencer. Only recently was he getting alone with Spencer and allowing me to easily pet him...he liked to hide a lot.
This week I heard a pained yelp - It seemed to be Spencer in a cat feud with Malibu. Next day it was definitely Malibu, day after that it was certain it was because he was ill - two days later he was dead.
With a couple of other cats, it seemed he had a coronavirus ulcer in his left eye. By the time I realized what might have been going on, it may have been too late - needs massive antibiotics. I attempted to keep him comfortable and syringe-feed him condensed kitten milk - seemed like it was torture. Going to work just compromised any attempts to help him. Malibu crawled several times the last two days to a dark/quiet place. When he died, he went from my side to my feet...I was going to get him to a vet that morning if he was not too far gone.
Aside from the usual feelings of grief and guilt, I fear I let Paulette down as she love Malibu very much.
