Teenager Phase
Hi All
Roark is almost a year now and he is going through, for lack of a better term, an angry teenager phase. Lately he is just cross and sulky all the time, will do things like grab my arm and bite me when I am not even irritating (read touching) him and just behaving like a cantakerous old man.
I am hoping that this is just a phase that will pass and does not mean that this is what his adult personality is like. I was hoping someone can give me some light at the end of the tunnel and advice.

Is he neutered?
MC are some times more distant but never rude.
The worst thing that can happen is that he will try to impose his will. They are animals and may never be treated as humans or children.
He knows his place and accepts the dog as his master or is it mother

Yes he was neutered at 5 months. I hope that this is just a phase. I miss my affectionate cat who used to headbutt me!

Yep I have had it with two of my boys Merl & Shimba {other males fine} just seem as they have to try & prove that they are top members of the household but by ignoring & walking away its soon passed & the luv bug in them has returned,I always compare them to spotty teenagers behind the bus shelter with the illegal fag & can of drink but once they have been there, tried it,got nothing out of it ok normal service resumes.....

Oh here I was thinking my Neevie was so special! Today she got time out twice for trying to bite my arm (when I wasn't answering her pleas... - then demands - to play)
She talks back, too, the brat! If I tell her to do something she doesn't want to do - like getting out of the pantry or down from the dining table - she makes a clearly protesting meeeewwww sound! But then I bring the big gun - the spray gun that is ... I just have to show it, now, she stops protesting and does as she's asked.
At first I used to make the mistake of shouting at her when she bit, now I do the same as H&SWells: time out when she is rude - can't just leave her there or I get bitten, so I firmly -but tenderly ;-) - pick her up and put her in another room, knowing that given time she can open the door herself. By the time she's opened the door and comes back in she's calm and cuddly again.
She is getting better - we're back from holiday since last week and she hasn't tried to bite our legs... yeppee!!! and she didn't jump at my head once since she got spayed... double yeppeee!!!
She's 2, just spayed in October.
