Wanted: Red Maine Coon Stud (Leicestershire + 50 miles)
Hi,
We're looking to breed our Maine Coon, Jess. Due to a problem with the breeder we got her from, we never got any papers for her, so she's unregistered. I have tried contacting a few registered breeders, but they are not interested, or are not able to breed with an unregistered female.
I've been keeping an eye on adverts around the internet and on pets4homes for instance for a few months, but haven't seen anything that's not been 100+ miles away.
We're looking for a red as we really like the colour and would like to keep a kitten for ourselves.
I will add some photo's of Jess later, she's a really gorgeous silver tabby. Please PM me on the forum if you can help or know of anyone that I could contact.
Please reply if you have any questions.
Thanks
Adam

You will find that the vast majority of registered breeders will not be willing to mate their boy with an unregistered female. We all put a lot of time and effort into our breeding lines and non-registered breeding is not encouraged. You have a girl of unproven pedigree as you have no papers, your kittens cannot be sold as pedigree Maine Coons, even if they are, you won't be able to provide the kitten owners with any paperwork other than a vaccination certificate, and you will not achieve the price you may have been anticipating either.
Sorry to be such a killjoy. Keep searching and you may find someone with an unregistered red boy who is willing to offer a mating, but its unlikely to be a breeder.

It's really annoying, I'm not bothered about getting a high price for the kittens, or even breeding lines. Obviously It would be great to keep that proper. But really we just want to keep one as company for her and as another pet for us.
