Question about wieght
Hi everyone I'm new here I have a beautiful black MC he just turned 10 months old and I went have weighed him today and he is at 11.5 pounds. Does that sound about right. He is long. Butwhen I hold him it feels like he is nothing g but skin and bones I have had him wormed and I have changed his food a few times.
Thank you

My little girl is over a year old and doesn't weigh that. She is probably about 2 pounds lighter. However, she is happy, playful, has a great appetite and never seems ill. I'd like her to be meatier but as they say, you can't fatten a thoroughbred. This leads me to conclude that one of her "brothers" and alleged litter mate is in fact a magpie mongrel as he is 15 lbs
If he is well in himself I wouldn't worry too much but just keep an eye on his weight to make sure he isn't losing. Lily just gets taller and longer. Never heavier it seems.

i would agree with caternity ... i posted a similar question as my boy seems to have stalled in weight gain , but is not losing , and is more than happy in himself , just helps to have your mind put a rest , i would say that the weight of your boy is fine , so long as he is eating , playing , sleeping and all normal at the other end then dont fret x

That's more than enough: a MC is a slender muscular type.
Mine is now down to 18 LBS

All cats especially MCs are different with weigh. They grow in fits and starts and some seem to get long quite suddenly
I have two MCs that are brothers and nearly a year old. One has been growing steadily and is now 6.5 KGs (14.3 lbs)
The other grows in fits and starts and is currently 7.7kg with no fat (which is 17lbs) But he has always been a very big kitten even from 3 months
As long as they seem healthy and are eating fine I wouldnt worry too much . Some are just bigger than others and girls are always smaller.

I'm glad I found this thread as I was going to post a similar question. Pina is about 18 months and only weighs 9lbs, she is very petite. We call her "tiny" She eats well and is very playful so I assume all is fine, she's just going to be a little girl.

One of our girls - Moonlight - is very petite (about 4.6kg) and she's 2yrs old. I call her 'half a coon moon'!! I'm hoping she might fill out a bit more but I guess they come in all different sizes. She's certainly got a bit appetite/voice/personality!

Yes they do all come in different weights & sizes mostly depending on their breeding lines,Bruce hasn't seen 7kg in his life{now10.5yrs} but he is tall, long, lean & slender, you can feel all his bones, his mate Merl wishes....! Also have two same litter bruvs & there is over 2.5kg weight difference between them but the heaviest of the two is not overweight they just come from big lines & my "babe" who has just tuned the year comes from the same breeder & she weighs in at 6kg,in fact at this rate she will soon overtake Uncle Bruce but I love the difference between them all & as long as they are fit & happy I am too, all part of the joy of being a MC parent....x
