Broken Hip
Our 11 month old boy broke his left hip today at the growth plate. Rushed him into the vet and everything is still in place, which is good news but I can tell he's hurting. Brought him home with pain meds and orders to not let him run, jump or play rough with his brother. We go back in 2 weeks for review and more xrays. He's been sleeping and laying in his bed. Right now his brother is my problem. They cry for each other when they can't see each other. Danny's been jumping in my bed crying for past hour. Brought him in for a visit and he's calmed down a little. Bought a huge dog cage so he can be in the living room safely. Hate the thought of him locked away in my laundry room alone for hours on end. Has anybody had to deal with a broken hip and did your cat have to have surgery?

We have had lots in at work who have done very well on strict cage rest, can be very hard to deal with but worth it in the end as the biggest percentage done fine, what an awful thing to have happen, poor babe & poor you, just remember as the pain medication kicks in he will think he is fine & want to attempt to do a lot more so be careful when you open the door.... We always suggested the cage is put where the cat can see what is going on,one couple used to take the cage & put under the cats favourite tree so it settled better, fingers & paws crossed for a good outcome......xxx
