My Dasha has a teething problem please advice.
Hello to all,
First of all, i came to this forum because you might be able to help me. I have a gorgeous female Maine Coon smokey black her name is "Dasha." She is 13 months old now and my concern is that she lost her baby canine tooth, but the definite canine teeth have not shown up yet. I had a vet take an x-ray of her mouth and the teeth are there, but have not come down yet. I know that a full developed Maine Coon takes place in about 3 years. Is this something that I need to start to worry about? She seems not having problem eating and she is growing.
I would really like to get some advice on this since this is a concern now...
Thanks
Andres

I was hoping someone who had come across this problem might reply, still could but all I can say that in 40 years at working in a vets I haven't come across it, not to say that someone hasn't been in but not while I was on duty, haven't had any problems either with any of my MC's teeth.
I would say that as you have had her mouth xrayed , the vets don't seem bothered ,that if Dasha is happy & eating ok then I wouldn't worry, at 13 months she must soon be coming up to her first booster so I would say have a good chat with the vets about it then... Yes they are slow maturing cats but not in that way as far as I am aware it's just that they continue to grow & mature up over a fourish year span....xxx

I never even noticed when Neevie lost hers, and she definitely had her permanent ones by the time she was 13 months old, and that's pretty much my only experience with maine coons so can't really speak from experience sorry. As Jackie said, don't worry if she's happy and it doesn't bother her and the vet don't seem anxious about it.

Thank you so much about your response. I am a little bit concerned because as I said, the teeth are there, but have not come out yet. Incredible that my Dasha would be the only one with such thing. Interesting after all... Well, she eats fine and keeps on growing ... I will find a way to upload some photos because, I mean, it is not because she is my girl, but boy ... she is really gorgeous
