Funny or embarrasing cat tales
Reading cooncatbobs posts about his beloved Samantha took me on a trip down memory lane of my own much missed cats. The photos and video clips came out and I started thinking about some of the lasting memories I have of them because of something really silly that they did. So got thinking it would be fun to share our feline shames.
I will kick off with a couple of stories of mine.
I had a ginger kitten who had a thing about shedding paper. He was a nightmare for it. If he got to the post or paper before you it was left looking like it had been through a shredder. Well kids being kids one decided to use the excuse the cat shreded my homework. I got a phonecall from a disgruntled teacher asking if said cat was a Tiger. Having been woken up after only 3 hours sleep (on nights) my reply was "you tell him he's not" and put the phone down. Parents evening was uncomfortable.
My Fudge (who crossed to the Bridge in April) had a bit of coonie in him as he loved water. Well when I say water I really mean ponds, especially fish ponds. There was an article in the local paper about a spate of thefts of koi carp from ponds locally. All of a sudden the remains of a carp landed on the paper as a very wet and black white cat scarpered into the bedroom. We bought him a fishing rod for Christmas. I have pics of the state of him and wil post when I can steal my laptop back from my son or they are on Buddy's Facebook.
Ahh Buddy and Facebook. Yes he has his own account (link on my profile) and he has nearly 2000 cat friends!
Right that's me blushing so come on share!

Some people may think that a Maine Coon Cat is a big couch potato and they'd be wrong, my Samantha was incredibly athletic.
Besides playing fetch I lived in a apartment where the bathroom was across the hall way from the kitchen and since I live alone I didn't shut the door, this gave Samantha the opportunity to visit and play a game I called mouse ball.
When I was on the porcelain throne she'd bring me a rattle mouse and I'd try to throw it past her, I rarely could, she could go right or left and leap high into the air and either snatch the mouse or bat it in to the air.
It hard to describe but she just glowed with kitty joy when we played.
Samantha could easily leap from the ground onto the top of my 6 foot bookcase without hitting the 8 foot ceiling, she'd uncoil her powerful muscles and spring into the air then land a softly as a feather on top of the bookcase.
From there she would survey her domain.
She like to do laps around the house then leap lightly on the furniture, she was very fond of leaping into my wooden chair.
One day while dusting I decided to play a trick on her and used furniture polish on the seat of the chair, well a short time later she was tearing it up and leaped onto the chair and slid right off the other side.
I was laughing until I saw the hurt look on her precious face, "how could you Papa" she said more clear then words, I realized I was getting amusement at the expense of her kitty dignity, female Maine Coons are very dignified cats and I'd broken trust.
I apologized and she forgave me.
I always afterward kept her feeling in mind when we played, she always got to win because her happiness was my joy.
Sorry I'm getting of topic, can't help it I always felt blessed to be owned my such a wonderful creature.

Just a quick story from the other day. Boris - now 6 months - has a burst of kitten energy at night. I settled down on the lounge with the TV on and my scrambled egg dinner on my lap. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a black and white streak and before I could utter a sound - SPLAT - he belly flopped on to my scrambled eggs which parted like the red sea. Off he went with scrambled egg on his lovely white tummy and no dinner for me!!!!!!
