Strange eating habits?
One of our MC 9.5 month old kittens, Moonlight, (we have 3!!) eats her food with her paws - she actually picks it up on her pad and puts it in her mouth! Is this common? Non of the others do it.....

The only one of ours who ate like that reguarly was China RIP,two of the others eat that way when they have pinched out of a bowl while one of them is still eating,a quick paw in grab out clutching in paw & then sit & enjoy. Merlyn will drink from the pond like that,he swills paw in & brings out clenched & then sucks it dry, takes a while as he has long tufts between his toes & snowshoes.Sometimes he is out there a good half hour repeating the process.
Another thing that some are good at & others not is fly catching, big paw plonked over paw closed up & then slowly open up claw by claw until prey found, reward a nice fresh crunch, not so clever MC opens paw straight up fly flies leaving a very bemused MC looking on,even more bemused when clever housemate proceeds to catch & enjoy.
Who would think we could have so much entertainment provided for us by a MC foot.....

Our Saffi does this, even when she gets wet food as a treat sometimes
Diesel scoops one kibble out of the bowl at a time, bats it around the kitchen floor for a while before eating it and going back for another one.

I used to line up snacks on the end table next to my chair and Samantha would reach up her paw and pull them to the floor 1 by 1, we called this game snack hockey.

Never noticed Buddy, or any of my other cats doing it. All I see of Buddy when his food bowl is somewhere near the floor is the underside of his tail and his fluffy knickers (can't think what else to call that long fur round his rear end). He does scoop water out of his bowl then drink it off the floor but he does scoop tea out of my cup and drink that from where ever it lands or licks it off his paws. For as long as your furbaby is eating I wouldn't worry, same as kids using fingers or forks.

Knickers We call them britches over here which is the same thing, that's where Samantha always got mats, they must be sensitive because even when they were cut short she didn't like me combing then, if I pulled the hair with the comb she'd take a swat at me, hiss then run off.
She'd usually come back a few minutes later ad I'd tell her Papa was sorry he hurt his Princess, she was a sweet heart and never held a grudge.

Thanks everyone. It's def her preferred way of eating wet food, she tends to bat dry food round a bit before eating it! She keeps us amused anyway!
