Thread: Nice Guy Monty

Monty did such a lovely thing yesterday.

Barney is my OAP who at 18 years old spends most of his time asleep upstairs on our bed. He gets lots of cuddles at night time and he comes downstairs twice a day to eat and make sure things are running smoothly with the 3 young lads. He's hyperthyroid and rather grumpy so he doesn't join in so much with their boisterous games these days.

Well I missed Monty yesterday afternoon as (unusually) he wasn't hanging out with the other 2 babes, so I went looking for him and eventually found him upstairs snuggled up right next to Barney on the bed. He's never done this before - he's usually stuck like glue to one of his brothers. But Barney was there first, and Monty had sought him out and settled down with him. It was as if he'd decided to keep Barney company for the afternoon! What a nice lad!

Monty is one of those characters who doesn't endear himself to visitors by being jumpy around them and flinching away from friendly advances. But underneath all that he is one of the nicest-natured creatures ever!

The Maine Coon never ceases to surprise us.
